ABOUT GLEE
Preserving Greek Traditions and Culture
The Greek Language Education Establishment of Hertfordshire was founded in 1979. Initially it operated as the Independent Greek School of Potters Bar. Its establishment was the strong desire of its founding members to offer to their children the forum to learn their mother language and preserve their Greek traditions and culture. Centre of the Greek Community in the Potters Bar Area.
After twenty five years the school has become the centre of the community in the Potters Bar area with more than 184 pupils and 20 teachers.
Class Times
The school holds classes twice a week on Saturdays from 2.00 to 6.00 pm and for years 4, 5, 6, GCSE and A level classes on Mondays from 6.00 to 8.00 pm. Apart from the Greek language the school curriculum includes religious studies, elements of history and geography of Greece and Cyprus, music and dance.
Elected Committee
The school is administered by a committee of 11 members who are democratically elected every year at the Annual General Meeting of all the parents of students attending the school. The committee meets at least monthly to decide the day to day running of the school and fundraising activities. We work very closely with the headmaster and teachers and we all work together to fulfil the aims and objectives of the school.
